AWARDS $100K: The Massachusetts Office of Travel
& Tourism (MOTT) recently awarded a $100,000 grant to Battleship Cove for
the continuation of the organization's efforts to promote the lessons and legacy
of America's veterans. To
be awarded in four $25,000 increments over 12 months, the highly generous and
prestigious award is a strong endorsement of the museum and its mission to preserve
the Commonwealth's official memorials to all Massachusetts citizens who gave their
lives in World War II, the Korean, Vietnam, and Persian Gulf Wars, and the 9/11/01
Attack on America. The
grant will help to fund the diverse portfolio of educational initiatives delivered
by Battleship Cove, including the flagship educational program Nautical Nights,
which hosts some 25,000 overnight campers on board the battleship Massachusetts
and destroyer Kennedy each year. Senator
Joan Menard and Rep. Robert Correia cosponsored the legislation. Answer
(2) George W. Bush and John F. Kennedy
were both Massachusetts natives and decorated US Navy veterans in WWII. Neither
John Adams nor John Quincy Adams served in the military.
