Honor and commemorate the men and women who gave their lives for freedom. Experience a traditional military observance at 12:00 PM with the raising of the American flag from half-staff and a 21-gun salute. The ceremony is open to the public.
Author Wayne G. Miller will be at Battleship Cove to sign copies of his book, “Fore River Shipyard”. Battleship Cove has two direct ties to the Shipyard as the USS MASSACHUSETTS BB59 and USS JOSEPH P. KENNEDY JR were built there in 1942 and 1945 respectively. The Fore River Shipyard was the largest private employer along the South Shore employing over 30,000 workers during WWII.
The crew of BB-59 celebrates its 68th reunion, the longest continual reunion in U.S. Navy history. Former crewmembers and their friends will participate in a memorial service, which is open to the public at 4 PM. Visit Battleship Cove this weekend and have the opportunity to speak with the proud veterans who served on Big Mamie.

In memory of the twelfth anniversary of the nation’s most deadly attack, Battleship Cove will conduct a Remembrance Ceremony at the 9/11 Memorial site with a wreath casting following by a 21-gun salute. The ceremony is open to the public.
Battleship Cove will host a reflective ceremony in honor of Prisoner of War/Missing in Action Day at 1 PM on the deck of the battleship. The Legion’s POW/MIA Committee will sponsor the ceremony. The ceremony is open to the public.

Battleship Cove will commemorate the 72nd anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor by hosting a brief ceremony at 12:55 PM—the exact hour of the Japanese strike. Located on the Battleship Massachusetts, the service will include a wreath-casting prefaced by brief remarks from Battleship Cove’s Executive Director. Ceremony is open to the public.

Families can enjoy a delicious hot breakfast plus, kids will have fun making special holiday ornaments, face painting, unlimited Carousel rides, and more.
