Captain of the Hutt River Province Principality's Navy Makes
Official Visit to Battleship Cove
Fall River, MA: Battleship Cove recently
had the opportunity to welcome a very distinguished guest. Capt.
Dr. Anthony G. Ziagos, Sr. made an official visit to the world's
largest collection of historic naval ships on July 24th on behalf
of His Royal Highness Prince Leonard of the Hutt River Province
Principality.
After a special tour of the USS Massachusetts,
Captain Dr. Ziagos met with Ernst M. Cummings, Executive Director
of Battleship Cove, and presented the retired United States Coast
Guard Captain with a personally engraved mantle clock.
With the blue, white and gold flag of the
Hutt River Principality flying high on the battleship's superstructure,
Captain Dr. Ziagos concluded that "if we don't provide an example
for the people to follow, they often don't see what's possible."
An Admiral member of Battleship Cove, Captain
Dr. Ziagos is publisher of the Merrimack Journal and has
donated in excess of $20K in in-kind ad space to the museum, which
was introduced to him by his friend Bernie Silveira, a World War
II BB59 crewmember.
The Hutt River Province is a small independent
state located in remote Western Australia. Since its peaceful secession
led by HRH Prince Leonard in 1970, the Hutt River Province Principality
has grown to include diplomats in more than 35 countries and thousands
of overseas citizens active in civic, cultural and humanitarian
activities.
Battleship Cove is a maritime heritage museum
preserving five National Historic Landmarks within the world's largest
and most diverse collection of historic naval ships. Recently designated
as the future site for the Commonwealth's official memorial for
September 11th, Battleship Cove is Massachusetts' official memorial
for World War II and the Korean, Vietnam, and Persian Gulf Wars.
Battleship Cove is open all day, 362 days
each year. Free parking. Wardroom Grille. Gift shop. Private Functions.
