Battleship Cove to Host Special Boston Event
Fall River, MA: Battleship Cove,
the maritime heritage museum that preserves the world's largest
collection of historic naval ships, will be hosting Shamrock &
Roll at the historic Harvard Club in Boston on March 15, 2003. This
is Battleship Cove's first formal event in Boston since the 1960's.
National spokespersons, Emily and Dominic
DiMaggio, along with generous sponsor Raytheon Integrated Defense
Systems, and a distinguished Host Committee, are inviting individuals
and companies interested in maritime and military history, patriotism,
and Massachusetts' impressive naval museum at Battleship Cove, to
join them for this unique event. Dinner will commence at six in
the evening, followed by a dance with an outstanding 21-piece big
band, and exclusive silent auction.
As this nonprofit's stature and responsibilities
grow, public awareness must follow suit, and therefore, we have
established this enjoyable event to help support our battery of
educational programs.
Media is encouraged to arrive between 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Interviews may be coordinated with:
Captain Ernst M. Cummings, Executive Director,
Battleship Cove
Robert Haley, Jr., President, USS Massachusetts Memorial
Committee Inc.
Captain Thomas Hudner and Captain Thomas Kelley - Medal of Honor
Recipients
Charles E. Franklin, President, Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems
Guest of Honor - Rear Admiral Rodney P. Rempt, USN, President, Naval
War College
Battleship Cove serves as the Commonwealth's
official memorial for Massachusetts citizens of all military branches
who lost their lives in World War II, the Korean, Vietnam and Persian
Gulf Wars. Most recently, this memorial mission was expanded to
include the Commonwealth's victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist
attacks. Preserving five National Historic Landmark naval vessels,
Battleship Cove also delivers educational programs that expose a
national audience of 60,000 youths to a mission that promotes duty,
honor and country.
